A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Spiders.

Brendan McDowell, who is tied for 9th in the WL in quality starts with 7, was locked in. The left-hander led the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-4 win against the Cleveland Spiders at League Park I. The first-place Reds have a record of 33-23.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from two-time All-Star Sam Weston to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.

"I always intend to finish what I've started," said McDowell.
