The Bay City Sugar Beets beat the Alpena Partridges, 5-4, at Candysweet Park. Diodoro Ortega, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Pablo Torres was called on to finish, recording his 7th save. Bay City is now 33-36. Alpena is 32-36.

With Bay City leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Ortega hit a curveball from Rafael González for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Sugar Beets ahead, 5-2.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Ortega told the Bay City Bulletin.
