Superior and Sault St. Marie took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Superior designated hitter René Pedroza contributed significantly to his team's 6-5 win over the Sault St. Marie Rapids. Pedroza, who is tied for 8th in the WGLA in bases on balls with 35, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Whalebacks. Superior sits in 4th place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Superior at 28-41.

Valeriano Luján came through with a big-time hit for Superior. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Luján told a Superior Citizen reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
