Cotorras Pin 9-1 Loss on Arroyo
The Rio Grande Cotorras went home winners at Recinto Atlético del Noreste, thanks in large part to starter Carmelo Castillo. Castillo stifled the Arroyo Telegrafistas, enabling Rio Grande to grab the 9-1 win. Castillo, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Cotorras improved to 24-15.

Carmelo Castillo and the Cotorras were in trouble in the top of the seventh. With the bases loaded and Arroyo trailing 9-1, Castillo had to face Antenor Juárez. But he was able to retire Juárez, who grounded out.
