Luquillo Soles starter Rubén Ruelas pitched a strong game against the Ceiba Picudos at Estadio Rolando Sandoval, leading the Soles to victory, 4-3. Ruelas yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-5. Ubaldo González earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
Luquillo used a timely hit from Esdras Reyes to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Soles ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Reyes.
Luquillo is now 21-23. Ceiba is 18-25.
