Ruiz Slaps 5 Hits
It was a sensational day at the plate for Erie Commodores first baseman Hestio Ruiz, but a tough one for the team, as the Commodores dropped the contest, 13-10, to the Meadville Zips.

Even with the loss, Ruiz was pure misery for the Meadville pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-5 in an explosive display of hitting.

"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Ruiz, who is the 29-year old first baseman .

"Ruiz really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Zips manager Doc Landis told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Hestio Ruiz singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season, Ruiz is batting .351 with 74 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 31 times and has 28 runs batted in.
