The Oswego Hydropathists got a superb performance from pitcher Nepomuceno Peña, but the Rochester Lilac Stockings still won the game, 3-2. Peña threw 9.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The Lilac Stockings move to 32-41 with the win, while the Hydropathists drop to 32-41.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Rochester. That's when Jesús Villalobos hit a run-scoring double off 18-year old right-handed pitcher Nepomuceno Peña to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Villalobos.
