Sugar Beets Beat Stoplights, 4-1
|
The Bay City Sugar Beets picked up a win at Candysweet Park, knocking off the Bad Axe Stoplights, 4-1. Starting pitcher Fernando Cerda played a key role in the triumph. Cerda, now 10-6, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Sugar Beets have a record of 34-43.
Chris Kaiser drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Bay City. The 26-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Báquides Pérez. It was his 22nd walk of the season.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Kaiser told the Bay City News.
