The Bad Axe Stoplights and Bay City Sugar Beets played an entertaining game for Candysweet Park patrons.
The Bad Axe Stoplights picked up a win at Candysweet Park, topping the Bay City Sugar Beets, 3-2. On the mound for Bad Axe was right-hander Inocencio Pérez. He played a principal role in the triumph. Pérez got the win, improving to 8-11. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
Valeriano Pérez had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth. The Bad Axe designated hitter came through with a run-scoring single to put Bad Axe in front, 3-2.
"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Pérez. "Winning helps."
The third-place Stoplights now sit at 38-40.
