The Syracuse Halites topped the Oswego Hydropathists by a score of 5-3. Leading the way was designated hitter Juan Rubio. Rubio went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 times for the Halites. Picking up his 15th save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Gabino López. The Halites now have a record of 47-30 with the win over Oswego.

Ginés Aguilar had a big 2-run home run for the Halites in the top of the fifth inning. With Syracuse leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Ciriaco Méndez and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Halites on top, 4-1.

Syracuse manager Diodoro Nodarse was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
