Traverse City beat Holland in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Traverse City Amarelles earned a close win over the Holland Tulips, thanks in part to Eduardo García. The Traverse City right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the WGLA in quality starts with 13, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. García, now 11-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Fulgencio Munguía got credit for the save for Traverse City. It was his 13th of the year.
Reggie Howell drew 1 walk for Traverse City. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Howell had a clutch at-bat. Facing Holland hurler Jerónimo Rosas, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Amarelles a 2-1 lead.
"I thought Eduardo threw the ball well across the board," said Traverse City manager Marcos Vega.
The last-place Amarelles sport a record of 36-44.
