Frank Schulte had a good game, but he could not keep the Alpena Partridges from falling, 11-4, to the Bay City Sugar Beets at Birds' Nest of Alpena. The Alpena left fielder was 2-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice in the loss. Jose Fernandez picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-13 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 2 in 8.2 innings, while yielding 4 runs. Bay City is last in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron with a record of 31-56.

Bay City used a well-timed hit by Mike Gant to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sugar Beets ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gant told the Bay City Daily.
