The Saginaw Joes and Bay City Sugar Beets played an exciting game.

The Saginaw Joes took Bay City pitcher Fernando Cerda's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Candysweet Park. The final score had Saginaw getting past the Sugar Beets, 3-2. Cerda went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 2. John Callahan picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Pablo Torres suffered the loss.

Cicerón Puente had a direct impact on the outcome. Puente contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Saginaw up, 3-2.

"We'll pocket this win," said Puente, "and then go after another."

With the win, the Joes improved to 55-30.
