Rapids Park, But Better was the site for Western Great Lakes Association action featuring the Superior Whalebacks and Sault St. Marie Rapids.

The Superior Whalebacks got a sterling performance from catcher Jorge Sánchez, but the Sault St. Marie Rapids still prevailed, 8-7. Sánchez was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Sault St. Marie reliever Fernando Ramírez, now 8-3. The loser was Chris Brierley.

Sault St. Marie took control in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Chris Coryea hit a run-scoring single to make it 8-7, Rapids.

Coryea said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."

The last-place Whalebacks now sit at 39-51.
