The rain did not keep Superior and Sault St. Marie from finishing their game.

Sault St. Marie got a valiant performance from pitcher Antonio Sánchez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Superior Whalebacks. Superior won the game, 5-3. Sánchez threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball for the losing team. Chris Brierley picked up the save for Superior, his 10th of the year.

The Superior win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Antonio Padilla. In the top of the second, the Superior catcher came to bat and hit a run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.

"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Superior manager Oscar Terrazas.

The Whalebacks improved their record to 37-55 by beating Sault St. Marie.
