Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Bay City Sugar Beets got the win.

The Bay City Sugar Beets beat the Bad Axe Stoplights, 4-3. Bay City pitcher and Havana, Cuba, native Jose Fernandez led the way. Pablo Torres notched his 9th save of the season.

Ramón Rivero helped the Bay City cause with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Bay City leading 3-2, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"Good win for us," said Fernandez. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."

The last-place Sugar Beets improved to 34-60.
