Stone Skippers Use Late Rally to Win
Mackinac Island picked up a win at The Traffic Jam, bumping off the Bad Axe Stoplights, 3-2. Pitcher Bernard Hawkins was a major reason the Stone Skippers emerged victorious. In 10 innings, Hawkins surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Tito Hernández got the save, the 11th for him this season.

Mackinac Island got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Esteban Lagunas. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Stone Skippers ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"Tough loss," said Bad Axe manager Mateo Martínez. "But we'll learn from it."

The triumph puts Mackinac Island at 53-44 for the season.
