Hopper Boys Victorious at Erie, 7-5
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Buffalo Hopper Boys and Erie Commodores.
Erie catcher Darío Valdivia had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to Buffalo at Erie Naval Yards. Valdivia went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Red Donahue sewed up the save, his 1st.
Ryan Donaldson had a big 2-run home run for the Hopper Boys in the top of the seventh inning. With Buffalo leading 5-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Clay Marple and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Hopper Boys on top, 7-2.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Donaldson.
The third-place Commodores have lost 5 consecutive games.
