At Peak Performance Park, the Marquette Smelters and Duluth Zeniths were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Led by Vidal López, the Duluth Zeniths downed the Marquette Smelters, 7-3. López went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Zeniths. The third-place Zeniths improved to 53-48.

Blake Carter took Marquette hurler Gonzalo Martínez deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Zeniths on top, 2-0. In all, Carter had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 2.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Carter told the Duluth Today. "But we take nothing for granted."
