Both teams had their chances, but the Alpena Partridges eventually prevailed.

Starting pitcher Rafael González pitched well enough to help the Alpena Partridges beat the Saginaw Joes, 4-3. Baltasar Manrique earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Picking up his 13th save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jaime Sepúlveda.

Premislao Reyes came through with a big-time hit for Alpena. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Reyes.

Alpena's record now stands at 51-55, placing them third in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.
