Saginaw pitcher Jack Stivetts had a large part in his team beating the Bad Axe Stoplights, 8-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. At 65-43, the Joes claim first place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.

Richard Compton had a big 2-run home run for the Joes in the top of the fourth inning. With Saginaw leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Báquides Pérez, who is tied for 9th in the WGLA with a 1.21 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Joes on top, 4-0.

"We were firing on all cylinders," said Joes manager Miguel Chagoya.
