Sault St. Marie turned a good effort from starter Antonio Sánchez into a win over the Superior Whalebacks at Edmund Fitzgerald Park. The final score was 5-2. Sánchez got the win, improving to 7-9. He gave up 3 hits and walked 4 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The loss makes Superior 50-60.
Edward Reeves dealt the Whalebacks a blow in the top of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Sault St. Marie leading 1-0, Reeves hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Reeves told the Sault St. Marie Observer.
