The Alpena Partridges had to overcome a fine effort from Mackinac Island pitcher Bernard Hawkins to win, 3-2, at Birds' Nest of Alpena. Hawkins went 10 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner was Alpena reliever Jaime Sepúlveda, now 6-6. The loser was Ed Walsh. At 57-57, the Partridges find themselves in third place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.

Brian Tate played the role of hero for Alpena. In the bottom of the 11th, he launched a solo home run off Ed Walsh to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.

"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Tate.
