Giants Stun Phillies, 3-1
|
Arch McCarthy, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a 2.50 ERA, imposed his will on the Phillies from the get-go. Relying mainly on his sinker, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 New York triumph. New York is now 27-42, while Philadelphia is 41-28.
New York used the timely hitting of Dermot Pack to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Pack called the win "a team effort."
