The rain came, as predicted, but the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Giants were able to complete their ballgame.

Behind the hitting of Marvin Watt, the Philadelphia Phillies stopped the New York Giants, 6-5. Watt was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for the Phillies. Jason Dowdy, the winner, is now 2-1. He struck out 4 and walked 3 over 6 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 10 hits. The save was credited to Scott Stratton, his 1st.

Watt had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Bert Abbey, he banged a 2-run double to right-center, giving the Phillies a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Watt.

Watt told reporters after the game: "Close wins always feel extra good."
