Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Giants
|
Starting pitcher Hugh Bedient gave the New York Giants a rock-solid effort. The Gerry, New York native helped his team defeat the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, at National League Park 1895-1909. The Giants now own a record of 29-22.
Bug Holliday was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks against the Phillies. With the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that put New York in front, 3-2.
"That's what I get paid to do," said Bedient.
