The Baltimore Orioles picked up a win at Polo Grounds 1890-1910, taking down the New York Giants, 5-2. Starting pitcher Christy Mathewson was a big reason why. The 'W' lifts Baltimore's record to 37-42.

The Orioles got a big at-bat from shortstop Harley Shaw. For the game, Shaw went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 8th triple of the season gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.

Orioles manager Gus Alberts raved about Mathewson after the game. "I thought Christy was 'lights out.'"
