The Halites benefited from a miscue in the top of the third inning. Syracuse was leading 2-1 when Ginés Aguilar hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Halites up, 4-1.

"F. threw the ball very, very well," said Syracuse manager Jack Neagle.
