Win Goes to Zips in Tight Contest
|
Meadville starter Mamerto Hernández pitched well against the Erie Commodores at XYZ Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. Hernández picked up the win for Meadville, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 13-15. With this game in the books, Meadville is 50-67, Erie 52-65.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Álvaro Preciado came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Erie pitcher Clay Marple, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Meadville on top, 4-2.
