The Marquette Smelters beat the Sault St. Marie Rapids, 7-5, at Rapids Park, But Better. Cristián Urdialez went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. The 34-year old third baseman was a menace to Sault St. Marie all day. Sabino Flores, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 11-8. The win makes Marquette 66-55.

Marquette used a clutch hit from Veloso Rivera to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Smelters ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

Rivera said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
