Charette, Blast Furnaces Too Much for Amarelles
The Gary Blast Furnaces defeated the Traverse City Amarelles, 9-3, at Stadium of a Thousand Degrees. Gary was led by 24-year old right fielder Shane Charette, who went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Eusebio Ortiz, credited with the win, is now 16-15. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 9 innings. The second-place Blast Furnaces bumped their record to 67-62.

In the bottom of the first, Charette had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Jake Ricci that staked the Blast Furnaces to a 2-0 lead.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Charette.
