Amarelles Stumble, Losing to Blast Furnaces, 3-1
|
José Martínez, who is tied for 8th in the WGLA with a 3.92 ERA, pitched well, but the Traverse City Amarelles still fell short, losing, 3-1, to the Gary Blast Furnaces at Stadium of a Thousand Degrees. The winning pitcher was Mateo Salinas. His record now stands at 6-0. The left-hander went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits for the Blast Furnaces. Gary is third in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Michigan with a record of 65-62.
Corey Day had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Gary. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Gary in front, 3-1.
Day said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
