Though the conditions were not ideal, the Alpena Partridges and Saginaw Joes came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Alpena Partridges weathered a fine game by Saginaw left fielder Esteban Navarro to upend the Joes, 5-4, at Old Growth Forest. Navarro was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Amadeo Jiménez. His record now stands at 17-12. The left-hander went 8.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits for the Partridges. Picking up his 16th save was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Jaime Sepúlveda.

Claudio Gutiérrez had a big solo home run for the Partridges in the top of the fifth inning. With Alpena leading 4-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Jack Stivetts, who is tied for 4th in the WGLA in quality starts with 20, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Partridges on top, 5-2.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Gutiérrez.

At 69-63, the Partridges are currently second in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.
