A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Salinas Pescadores and San Juan Metropolitanos.
The Salinas Pescadores rode a solid performance from 34-year-old starting pitcher Ordoño Ortega to a win, beating the San Juan Metropolitanos, 3-2, at Coliseo Carlos Chávez. With the win, Salinas upped its record to 27-21.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, two-time All-Star Scott Cattell had a chance to be the hero. San Juan pitcher Uriel Urrea wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Cattell drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Pescadores had themselves a thrilling win.
"Ordoño did what Ordoño does," said Salinas manager Frank Olin.
