Though the conditions were not ideal, the Jayuya Cerros and Isabela Quesiteros came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Jayuya Cerros picked up a win at Coliseo Álvaro Santana, knocking off the Isabela Quesiteros, 7-2. Starting pitcher Eddie Kirby played a key role in the triumph. Kirby yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 4-6.
Luis Álvarez hit a run-scoring double off José Rico in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Cerros in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Álvarez had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Kirby. "It sure beats the alternative."
Jayuya is second in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste with a record of 23-27.
