The inspired effort of Verona shortstop Roberto Sanguinetti was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the Stuttgart Vergaser. Sanguinetti was 3 for 3 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Now 9-3, the 1913 Vergaser have been phenomenal so far.

Stuttgart used a clutch at-bat from Halim Tuncay to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Vergaser ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Winning is the only objective," said Tuncay after the game.
