Vergaser Stun Schaeffler, 4-3
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Stuttgart Vergaser and Munich Schaeffler.
The Stuttgart Vergaser picked up a win at Schaeffler-Park, knocking off the Munich Schaeffler, 4-3. On the mound for Stuttgart was right-hander Rudi Alexander. He played a key role in the triumph. In 9 innings, Alexander surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs.
Stuttgart needed the clutch hitting of Valerius Noth to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vergaser on top, 4-3. For the game, Noth had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Alexander told the Stuttgart Citizen.
Stuttgart is now 35-20. Munich is 29-28.
