The Magdeburg Halbkugeln eked out a 2-1 win versus the Stuttgart Vergaser at Vergaser-Stadion. Nobody did more than pitcher Manfried Diffenderffer. He was terrific. Diffenderffer picked up the win for Magdeburg, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 11-8. The first-place Halbkugeln improved to 65-35.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Halbkugeln had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the third, when left fielder Valerius Koenig hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Rudi Alexander and made the score 2-1, Halbkugeln. Koenig went 1 for 5.

"Winning is seldom easy in this league," said Diffenderffer.
