"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Sebald Zimmerman of the Magdeburg Halbkugeln proved the point at Halbkugeln-Stadion, holding the Stuttgart Vergaser to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Zimmerman made us look real bad today," Vergaser manager Lee Richmond said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Zimmerman had 9 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Halbkugeln took the 4-0 win.

Over the season Zimmerman has thrown 241.2 innings and dished out 195 strikeouts with a 19-7 mark and a 2.20 ERA.
