|
Penuelas third baseman Francisco Mejía was sensational. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Morovis beat the Guiristas, 4-2. The winning pitcher was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Bob King. He tossed 120 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Fintan Williams got the save, the 9th for him this season.
Morovis used the clutch hitting of Radamés Serrano to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Sanisalvos the lead, 3-2. For the game, Serrano had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I like what I saw today," said Morovis manager Nereo Villanueva, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The first-place Sanisalvos bumped their record to 34-19.
