El Paso Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in IDS
|
The El Paso Finos moved to within one game of the Pennant Championship Series, downing the visiting Waco Mammoths at Finos Park by a score of 3-2. Finos left-hander Ramón Salinas had a strong outing in which he threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Finos a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Interdivisional Series.
In the bottom of the 2nd, El Paso took the lead on a 2-run home run by Vicente García. At the time, the Finos were trailing 1-0, but García's hit with two outs against Waco pitcher Crisóstomo Yáñez put them in front, 2-1.
Mammoths manager Guarionex Guzmán did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Championship of the Frontier."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Finos Park in El Paso.
