Trifluviens Advance to National Championship of Canada
|
Royal Canadian Baseball League fans were certainly not disappointed with this Ligue du Baseball du Quebec Pennant Championship Series.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens prevailing over the Gatineau Draveurs to advance to the National Championship of Canada.
Trois-Rivieres won the final game by a score of 9-1 at Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres and that sealed the series 3-2.
"Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said left fielder Bernabé Lugo, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Lugo hit .353 with a .476 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Markham Wheelwrights - Sudbury Meteors series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The National Championship of Canada schedule will be announced after the Pennant Championship Series finishes.
