Sudbury Nears National Championship of Canada Triumph After 2-1 Win
Don Day pitched a gem to help the Sudbury Meteors escape with a tight, 2-1 victory over the Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens in a low-scoring National Championship of Canada contest. The left-handed Day threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Meteors on a day when their offense dried up. Sudbury now leads the best-of-7 series 3-1.

Day pitched a complete game for Sudbury. The 31-year-old left-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 4 during his 98-pitch performance.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Trois-Rivieres skipper Don Jayne, "and it cost us."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres in Trois-Rivières.
