Rose Stockings Hammered by Rubio, Drop Game 6 to Halites
|
The Syracuse Halites and the Mentor Rose Stockings will take the Pennant Series to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation at Salt City Park, the Halites beat the Rose Stockings, 4-3, on a walk-off in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Syracuse left fielder Juan Rubio was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Rubio hit a slider from Marco Martínez for a run-scoring single. The Halites, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"What a buzz," said Rubio after it was over.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Salt City Park in Syracuse.
