Martenos Slap 5-4 Loss on Holguin
The Holguin Pericos and Manzanillo Martenos provided some drama for the home crowd.

Holguin second baseman Carlos Moreno had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Manzanillo at Recinto Deportivo de Holguin. Moreno was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. The winner was Luis Suárez, who threw 83 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits.

Manuel Hinojosa had a big 2-run triple for the Martenos in the top of the sixth inning. With Manzanillo leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 38-year old right-handed pitcher Kip Larsen and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Martenos ahead, 5-2.

Manzanillo manager Pierre Bardet commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The Martenos improved their record to 63-68 by beating Holguin.
