Serie Preliminar Game 1 Victory for Stack and Naguabo

The Serie Preliminar got off to a quiet start, with the host Naguabo Navegadores taking a low-scoring, 2-0 win over the Arroyo Telegrafistas. Naguabo right-hander Everton Stack was marvelous at La Timonera. The Navegadores now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Stack, a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, was dealing all game. He kept Arroyo hitters off-balance, while giving the Navegadores 9 quality innings. Stack threw 122 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 16.
"I liked his command," said Naguabo manager Herminio Salcedo Díaz. "Everton was throwing strikes."
