The Canovanas Chupacabras moved to within one game of the Serie Eliminatoria, downing the Camuy Murcielagos on the road at Estadio Víctor Nieves by a score of 7-2. Chupacabras left-hander Luis Piñero had a strong outing. He threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Chupacabras a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Serie Preliminar.

Canovanas relied on the hitting of Ascanio Soto to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Chupacabras on top, 5-0. For the game, Soto had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We're not going to sweep 'em," Soto said in response to a question after the game. "Camuy is too good not to take a game somewhere."
