Isabela Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
José Rico pitched a gem to help the Isabela Quesiteros escape with a tight, 2-1 victory over the Mayaguez Capitanes in a low-scoring Serie Interdivisional contest. The left-handed Rico threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Quesiteros on a day when their offense dried up. Isabela now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.

Rico confounded Mayaguez hitters. Over 9 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits.

"It's a gut punch," Capitanes manager Alberto Contreras said, "to get here and find ourselves down 0-2 in the blink of an eye."

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Coliseo Atlético del Oeste in Mayagüez.
