The Maturin Petroleros started the Serie Eliminatoria in style, winning on the road against the Puerto La Cruz Timoneles at Estadio de Puerto La Cruz by a score of 7-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Petroleros second baseman Armando López excelled. He went 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs.
