Las Piedras Wins to Cut Corozal Lead to 2-1
|
Already down in the Serie Preliminar, the Las Piedras Menestrales put on their best show, beating the Corozal Mofongueros by a final score of 2-1. Viriato Rodríguez was special. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Las Piedras now trails Corozal 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.
Las Piedras third baseman Herminio Medina helped the Menestrales go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the game tied, Medina hit a run-scoring single off Corozal pitcher Abdulbasit Maaroufi.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Medina.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coliseo Jorge Olivares in Las Piedras.
